Getting justice for wildlife crimes

While backpacking through Africa, Naftali Honig became aware of the corruption driving wildlife crime. Realizing he wanted to do something about it, Honig co-founded the EAGLE Network with the main goal of bringing wildlife traffickers to justice.

In this National Geographic Live talk, he discusses some of the failures and successes that his organization has had, specifically in relation to fighting ivory trade criminals. Honig stresses upon the need to take wildlife crimes seriously with serious consequences like serving time in the penitentiary system without the slippery fingers of corruption allowing criminals to sneak away. Hailing for political support, Honig advocates for incorporating law and order into the wildlife crime system.
