LabRoots Scholarship
The number of students pursuing degrees in the sciences really hasn’t changed much in the past decade. According to the Higher Education Research Institute, the percentage of students in the United States earning bachelor’s degrees in the STEM fields has remained stable at about one third of graduates. In order for the United States to sustain a primary role in scientific research and development worldwide, there is a great need to increase the number of students moving into and staying in the STEM fields. We at LabRoots understand the importance of the sciences in education and work to support not only higher education within a specific field of study but also broader education of students interested in the sciences. This year, LabRoots is offering scholarships to students needing support for research projects, travel expenses, and training supplies associated with their academic pursuits in one of the STEM fields. We are proud to be part of bringing education and open access science to researchers and professionals around the world. We are now pleased to be able to offer that support to students and their own research as well. Each LabRoots Scholarship will fund one undergraduate or graduate student for one year, providing $3,000 in direct costs for project supplies and travel. By providing funds to further student-led research projects, LabRoots aims to help increase the number of students who stay in the STEM fields and pursue a career in science outside of college.
