The LabRoots 2018 Spring Scholarship welcomed applications from students needing support for research projects, travel expenses, and training supplies associated with their academic pursuits in one of the STEM fields. We would like to congratulate Faith Robinson as this spring’s scholarship winner! faithFaith has been accepted to Spelman College, planning to major in Health Science. Her goal is to become a neurosurgeon and she is already well on her way. In high school, Faith graduated with both a high school degree and an Associate in Arts degree from a dual-enrollment school as well as participated in a summer science research program to further engage herself in the life sciences and medical community. With a passion for chemistry and neuropsychology, Faith is determined to make a difference in a world where so many medical issues are still unknown yet could one day be prevented. “Neurologists use chemistry in the determination of function for chemicals called neurotransmitters. In addition, neurologists use neuropsychology to treat a wide range of neurobehavioral problems of the central nervous system. This shows how my interests correlate with my future profession, which is why I would like to become a neurologist,” Robinson explains. The merit-based scholarship will fund Miss Robinson for one year, providing $3,000 in direct costs. LabRoots supports undergraduate and graduate students pursuing degrees in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) disciplines. Our scholarship program is open to students both in, and outside the US; there are no geographical limits for applicants. LabRoots wishes to encourage all students to stay in science and aims to help students work towards their research and educational goals.
